Music out of words...

On the 23rd of May there was the Fourth Poetry Slam held in the RUDN Library co-working space. The poems were read in Russian, French, English and Samoan. Many of the attendants made their debut by this poetry recital. Famous poets and artist compounded the panel of judges. Stefania Danilova (Institute of Russian Language) – a poet, a higher school teacher; Alexander Konkov – a poet, a bard, an honoree of poetry festivals. Dmitry Erokhin – a poet, a member of the Union of Writers; Arseny Molchanov (Ars Pegasus) – a performance poet, poetry readings and poetry festivals planner, the founding father of the well-known Literary Mondays. Kononova Tatiana – a deputy director of the RUDN Scientific Library. A high level of the performed poetry had impressed the jury pool so much, that it could hardly decide on the winners.

The winner of the slam is Yuri Vinokurov, 1st year student (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences). Danila Ratushny, 1st year student (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) has come second. Inessa Kostenko, 1st year student (Institute of Russian Language) has ranked third place. Olga Vasiyarova, Evelina Timofeeva and Yuri Vinokurov have got Audience Awards. And the 1st year student Kassem Mariam Amr (Faculty of Philology) from Egypt has won the Special Jury Award for her poems in Russian.

Literary associations and creative contests belonged to the tradition of the University, started out back in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s of the last century. And today after a long break we carry on this wonderful praxis.
