University library of the future: trends in librarianship and testing of search engines

On November 28-29, 2024, as part of the International Educational Forum at RUDN, the section "University Library of the Future" was held, organized by the Scientific Library. The event brought together leading experts and representatives from companies involved in innovations in library science and educational technologies.

 

Participating companies included "Neopoisk," "NIЦ INFRA-M," "Raduga-Lik with You," "Open Library Systems," "Antiplagiat," as well as representatives from major educational and research institutions, including the Fundamental Library of the A.I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University, INION RAN, the Scientific Library of BNTU, and the Ufa University of Science and Technology.

 

Experts presented reports on modern search systems, knowledge management, generative artificial intelligence, GPT models, and intelligent assistants. Participants discussed current trends and opportunities for university libraries amidst rapid technological advancement.

 

The section also featured a business game titled "The Leader's Mindset - Looking to the Future," allowing library leaders to engage in discussions about the development strategies of their institutions and educational organizations.

 

Graduate and postgraduate students from the university also participated in testing two search systems: "Neopoisk" and "Bibliopoisk." The results indicated that both systems are suitable for use in the educational process, highlighting their effectiveness and functionality.

 

A special event titled "User 's Perspective on Foreign Resources: Ideal Relationships with a Twist of Reality" was organized for representatives of the medical institute. Additionally, a quiz for medical students allowed participants to explore the electronic materials platform BookUp.

 

The "University Library of the Future" section served as an important platform for exchanging experiences and ideas, as well as discussing the prospects for library development in the context of digital transformation. The Scientific Library of RUDN thanks all forum guests for their active participation and engaging discussions, which undoubtedly contribute to the development of the library community and the educational environment as a whole.
