From the Philosophy of Existence to the Integrity of Thinking
The top books of Oleg Alexandrovich Yastrebov, Rector of RUDN University, which he shares on his birthday
I am currently reading the book "Being and Consciousness" by the great Russian scientist Sergei Leonidovich Rubinstein. This is the second volume of Sergei Leonidovich's works, which our university, RUDN University, published jointly with the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education. The first volume is called "Man and the World," which I also highly recommend to everyone. The books raise many topics and questions that generally relate to understanding the universe. Here are a few ideas to inspire you:
• Man lives not in nature, but in history. • It is impossible to move forward in history without some degree of ascent. It is for this that we discover mathematical infinity and electromagnetic waves, and it is for this that we write symphonies. • Ethics takes into account the diversity of human relationships with the world and the inner wealth of a person. External values can be transformed into a person's internal qualities. • The highest and most captivating thing: the enjoyment of the world’s overarching logic, the feeling of relating oneself to its entire picture, the sense of belonging to the beauty of the whole spectacle — to the entire Universe. It is driven solely by this sense of shared existence.

I also recommend the books of Leo Tolstoy to everyone – any work, from any page. Such literature enriches the language and restores the integrity of thinking. This is very important in the context of the multitude of short messages that each of us receives by the hundreds every day in messengers and by email.
